Administrator’s best friend BartPE

Ever wanted a cd that could let you boot into your hard disk and do the necessary?.Well I have heard about hiren’s cd and how good it is many a time but this is a dialup country I live in. So downloading hiren’s cd from the web is out of the question. One of those linux based boot cd too are more than 500MB to download so they are big no no. What option do you have then?? Well I heard about this BartPE thing about 2 years ago from my friend. I have been using it to great success from then on.
What can you do with it?
This cd will let you into your hard disk with out loading the operating system. By operating system I mean windows operating system. Delete stubborn file and folders that your os won’t let you delete normally. Change the things that virus as altered in you Operating System.
Get access to SAM and System file inside system32/config that you can’t normally do. With so many plugins available for BratPE in the web you can scan your computer for virus and adwares and many more. All you have to do is search “plugins for BartPE” in google.
Where to find it?
BartPE has to be built in your computer by using pebuilder. Pebuilder has to be download from http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/ .This is about 3.3MB in size. Even dialup users won’t have any problem downloading this file. Plugins too can be found, google please. Plugins have to be put inside the folder named plugin
How to build it?
You will get a file “pebuilder3110a.zip” after download. Unzip the file in a folder. Plugins have to be put inside the folder named plugin. Inside the folder look for pebuilder.exe and double click it. You will get pebuilder gui like the one in the picture below. Now you will need Windowds XP SP2 cd in your cd drive which you have to point as “Source:”.After that Click “Create iso image” radio button and then click “Build” button. This will create a iso image in the folder where you have extracted pebuilder zip. Now burn that iso image into a blank cd using CD buring software like Nero. Now you are ready to boot from cd. BartPE even supports the pen drive i.e if you insert pen drive while booting from cd it detects the pendrive.
